2018 - Membership Fee Increase
Notice
As discussed and announced at the Annual General Meeting which took place in Kingston in April 2017, the annual membership fee will increase from $10.00 to $20.00 effective in 2018. This is the 1st increase in fees since the inception of DIPAC.
Some background information (as presented at the AGM):
- We are an active member of the Canadian Federation of Pensioners (CFP)
- In late 2017, Bob Farmer is retiring as CFP president
- Bob has been a tireless leader of CFP, meeting officials and politicians as well as drafting persuasive and tactical papers on a number of topics relative to Defined Benefit Pension Plans
- No one individual with those skills is willing or available to volunteer their time to replace Bob
- CFP is therefore adopting a new model going forward, which will mean outsourcing projects to experts under the direction of a CFP board member
- This new model will substantially increase the fees of the CFP members on an annual basis
- The DIPAC board feels we need to support this proposal as it is important to continue to share information and stay involved in the advocacy work of CFP
Our Financial Statements for the past few years indicate that we are operating at a deficit on a year to year basis. Based on this and the new CFP operating model, which will significantly increase our membership dues with them, we feel that an increase in our membership dues is warranted at this time.
A few items to take note of:
- Lifetime Memberships will no longer be offered. Previously purchased Lifetime Memberships will continue to be honoured, however any donations would be greatly appreciated.
- Anyone who has set up a recurring payment with PayPal to pay their dues will need to set up a new payment. All current recurring payments will be canceled.
- Members who have pre-paid for one or more years will also continue to have their memberships honoured until it is time for renewal.
Thank you for your continued support of DIPAC.
